a couple of nights ago we had the pleasure of dining with some food loving friends at two very tasty and totally different restaurants.  First we met K and L at Bar Avignon for what was intended to be drinks and small plates.  K had a crazy 6 am spinning lesson and didn’t want to over do. We had some drinks, I experienced a touch of disappointment in my quest for the perfect lemon drop, but we had some really good bread and butter, always nice when butter comes back to the table after it was overthrown by olive oil some years ago, and some duck rilletes.  The place was cozy in a kind of French way, and the service was fine. We were then joined by G and another K and decided to move the party across the street to Nuestra Cucina.  Had never been.  Since we had eaten a little first, no one but me wanted to order every appetizer on the menu so we just headed straight to the main course and had some drinks. I switched to one of their special drinks, a blood orange margarita, and sadly went straight to the main courses.  I had an amazing fried flour tortilla sandwich with  pork and avocado and it was a mess but worth the possible sacrifice of my daughter’s cream colored scarf. Never worn, by the way. Can’t wait to go back. Everyone loved what they had.
