4 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
1 cup whole milk
1 cup half and half
1 cup heavy cream
3 ounces rum, or bourbon or whiskey
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
4 egg whites
In a mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/2 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is dissolved. Add the milk, half and half, cream,rum and nutmeg and stir to combine.
Place the egg whites in the bowl of a mixer and beat to soft peaks. With the mixer running add the remaining tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
Fold the egg whites into the mixture. Chill and serve.
