caramelized pears

 2  medium pears
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Cut the pears in half, remove the core and peel. Cut into chunks. In a heavy frying pan heat the butter until sizzling. Add the pears, sugar and cinnamon and stir. Cook over medium heat stirring often until the pears and very tender and obtain a nice golden brown color. Remove from the heat, add the vanilla and place in a covered bowl until needed.
Spoon over your wonderful panna cotta. You can use the whipped cream too. It is Thanksgiving, so you can pretend that we didn’t totally screw over the native americans and have a nice holiday.
